About the Recipe

My momma may be all the way in Michigan while I'm halfway across the country in Texas, but we talk almost every day. Now that I’m all grown up, I still crave my mom’s cooking, especially her "quick" ribs. After living in Texas for over 15 years, I’ve learned that BBQ is a serious matter here. Texans can take multiple hours, sometimes days, to create their "perfect" BBQ recipes. Where I grew up in Michigan, we ain't got time for that, AND we love a good meal. This is the perfect way to have your ribs and eat ‘em too!

Ingredients

  • rack of pork ribs

  • 1 can of beer (your choice!)

  • 2 TBS minced garlic

  • favorite BBQ sauce

Preparation

Step 1

To cook ribs successfully, start by soaking the rack in a pot of cold water. This ensures even cooking, enhances flavors, and removes impurities. This step is essential for tender and delicious ribs. Submerge the ribs fully in the water before proceeding with cooking.

Step 2

For flavorful and tender ribs, add beer and minced garlic to the pot, then simmer with the lid on until the meat is juicy and succulent (about 30 minutes). The beer tenderizes and adds depth, while garlic enhances the taste.

Step 3

After simmering the ribs in water for 30 minutes, carefully remove them and transfer them onto a sheet of aluminum foil. Generously coat the ribs with your preferred barbecue sauce, before securely wrapping them in the foil. Next, preheat your grill to a medium heat setting and carefully place the foil-wrapped ribs on the grill grates. Allow the ribs to cook over indirect heat for approximately 25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the meat to become tender and juicy.
